Food Drive for SF Food Bank - March 2010


Food Bank 2010

San Francisco FCU partnered with the San Francisco Food Bank to help end hunger in San Francisco. The Credit Union collected over 3,000 items for families in need through a department contest held among staff. This equates to approximately 2,313 pounds of food. In addition, 24 employees of San Francisco FCU donated their time at the Food Bank to package beans and rolled oats for distribution and presented a donation check of $1,000 to the San Francisco Food Bank. The financial contribution, along with the food collected at San Francisco Federal Credit Union, will provide the San Francisco Food Bank enough food for nearly 5,000 meals!


Coat Drive for Women's Community Clinic - January 2010 Food Bank

San Francisco Federal Credit Union recently donated $2,500 and collected over 300 coats for the Women’s Community Clinic in San Francisco. For the fourth straight year, San Francisco Federal Credit Union held a coat drive throughout the winter months to gather coats to benefit the Outreach Program at the Women’s Community Clinic. At the end of the coat drive, around 318 items (which included coats, jackets, scarves, etc.) were donated by credit union members and staff. Women’s Community Clinic distributed these items at Ladies’ Night and to Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels in the Mission District.

Giving Back During the Holidays - December 2009


Food Bank

Employees of San Francisco Federal Credit Union take part in giving back to the community this holiday season with the gift of time, money and goods. During this holiday season, Credit Union employees engaged in different volunteer and donation activities. For Thanksgiving, staff helped at St. Anthony Foundation’s annual curbside donation and also served lunch at Hospitality House and Agape. Throughout this winter, San Francisco FCU is continuing its tradition of collecting coats and toys for families in need. Coats are collected for The Women’s Community Clinic and toys for the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program.

 


Neighborhood Parks Council - November 2009 Food Bank

San Francisco Federal Credit Union encourages our members to “go green” by signing up for e-Statements and eliminating the use of paper for their monthly statements in order to save trees and preserve the environment. For every new e-Statement enrollee during October and November, San Francisco FCU donated $5 to San Francisco Neighborhood Parks Council (NPC) in our effort to make the city greener. The Neighborhood Parks Council advocates for a superior, equitable and sustainable park and recreation system. At the end of this promotion, 294 credit union members went paperless and San Francisco FCU contributed $1,500 to NPC.

CommunityShare Heart Awards - October 2009

Bowl-A-Strike 4 SeniorsTwo staff members were recognized for the fundraising work they accomplished in the previous quarter. CommunityShare Heart Awards are presented to employees who have gone “above and beyond” in their
participation at credit union fundraising events. The two recipients of the CommunityShare Heart Award are:

  • Warren Alderson (Service Center Manager) chaired AIDS Walk 2009 in July. As a team, the credit union raised over $3,500 through donations, an employee pasta feed and a Disneyland raffle.

  • Andrée Kirk (Executive Assistant) chaired fundraising efforts for the San Francisco Food Bank in September. The Credit Union raised $1,734 and 320 pounds of non-perishable food for the Food Bank.


Making Strides Against Breast Cancer - October 2009Food Bank

San Francisco Federal Credit Union hosted a variety of activities to collect funds and to raise awareness for breast cancer. The Golden Gate Branch hosted a bake sale supported by staff volunteers who enthusiastically baked treats for this fundraiser. The Credit Union also held ice cream socials at the workplace, with proceeds to go toward the fight against Breast Cancer. To top it off, staff walked off the calories from the baked goods and ice cream at American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a five-mile walk on Saturday, October 18 in Golden Gate Park. San Francisco Federal Credit Union raised over $2,000 for the fight against breast cancer.

San Francisco Food Bank - September 2009Food Bank

San Francisco FCU partnered with the San Francisco Food Bank to end hunger by raising awareness to staff and members. San Francisco FCU participated in several ways. Our Food Drive brought in 320 pounds of non-perishable food from members and staff. On September 29th, twenty San Francisco FCU staff and their family members volunteered two hours after work to sort food into different categories and pack cereal into bags for distribution. Lastly, through an employee Wiffle Ball Game and various donations, San Francisco FCU was able to contribute $1,734 to the San Francisco Food Bank.

Richmond District Neighborhood Center - July 2009RDNC

San Francisco Federal Credit Union contributed a donation of $1,500 to the Richmond District Neighborhood Center (RDNC) in support of the many programs they offer. RDNC works toward improving quality of life in the community by offering afterschool programs for youth, free classes in Yoga and Tai Chi, weekend art classes for families, a youth-led Food Pantry, and free English classes for immigrants. Since 1980, the Center has grown into a thriving, multi-purpose community center with programs serving all ages in the neighborhood.

 


AIDS Walk 2009 - July 19, 2009 AIDS Walk 09

San Francisco Federal Credit Union is proud to be a participating organization at AIDS Walk San Francisco, which took place on July 19, 2009 in Golden Gate Park. On this bright Sunday morning, staff and friends of San Francisco FCU walked 10 kilometers through Golden Gate Park alongside 25,000 other participants. As a team, the credit union raised over $3,500 through donations, an employee pasta feed and a Disneyland raffle. AIDS Walk San Francisco benefits the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and other HIV/AIDS organizations serving the six Bay Area counties. San Francisco Federal Credit Union has been a participant in AIDS Walk for numerous years.


CommunityShare Heart Award - June 2009

Bowl-A-Strike 4 SeniorsSan Francisco Federal Credit Union began a program to reward its employees with CommunityShare Heart Awards for exemplary involvement in community service events.

CommunityShare Heart Awards are presented to employees who have gone “above and beyond” in their participation at credit union fundraising events. Bernadette Bardine, Chair of the CommunityShare committee, explains, “San Francisco FCU encourages our employees to be good neighbors by volunteering in the community. Rain, shine or fog, our employees are dedicated to make a difference.”

In its first ever presentation, three staff members were recognized for their enthusiasm and dedication:

  • Leroy Ford (Service Center Supervisor) chaired the Coat Drive during the winter to benefit the Women’s Community Clinic. From this drive, 160 coats were delivered to the clinic.
  • Jennifer Groman (Financial Services Representative) chaired the Annual Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk and helped raised a total of $2,820 for the National Brain Tumor Foundation.
  • Kelley Harris (Collections Representative) raised awareness and relentlessly encouraged staff participation in a bake sale fundraiser for the Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk. Employees took part in this bake sale by either baking goods, helping sales, or purchasing treats at the Golden Gate Branch lobby.

Bowl-A-Strike 4 Seniors - June 2009

Bowl-A-Strike 4 SeniorsSan Francisco Federal Credit Union contributed $1,500 in support of the Seventh Annual Bowl-A-Strike 4 Seniors event held by Little Brothers- Friends of the Elderly, San Francisco.

On Saturday, June 20th, Credit Union staff formed two bowling teams to participate in the Bowl-A-Strike 4 Seniors event. Even in these difficult economic times, Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly were able to raise over $29,000 from this event. Funds raised from this bowling event will go directly towards holiday events where volunteers provide home deliveries and friendly visits on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day to over 500 isolated elders.

15th Annual Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk - May 2009Brain Tumor Bake Sale

San Francisco Federal Credit Union raised $2,820 for the National
Brain Tumor Society’s 15th Annual Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk. San Francisco FCU formed a team to participate in this year’s walk and held bake sales at the main branch to raise funds and awareness for the Brain Tumor cause. On the rainy morning of May 2, 2009, President/CEO Steven Stapp and a team of Credit Union Staff, along with friends and family, took part in an inspirational 5K fundraising walk in Golden Gate Park.

Proceeds from the Brain Tumor Walk support research and patient programs at the National Brain Tumor Society.

Coats For The Women's Community Clinic - January 2009SFFCU Coat Drive

San Francisco Federal Credit Union was proud to participate in collecting new and gently used, clean coats to support The Women's Community Clinic. From this drive, we delivered 160 items to the Women's Community Clinic of San Francisco.

Many thanks to the San Francisco FCU Members, Officials and Employees who participated in our annual holiday toy drive for the San Francisco Firefighter's Toy Program..

Your generosity helped to brighten the lives of many children in our communities this holiday season. We donated around 145 toys that were distributed to children in need in the San Francisco area.



St. Anthony's Curbside Donations

St. Anthony's Curbside Donation - November 2008

On October 4, 1950, St. Anthony opened their Dining Room. Now, more than 58 years and 34 million meals later, people come to St. Anthony Foundation not only to share in a meal, but also for clothing, housing, and healing of both body and spirit. On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving,

San Francisco Federal Credit Union staff including CEO Steven Stapp volunteered at St. Anthony's helping collect curbside donations and assisted in loading the trucks with the Thanksgiving donations.


American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk - Oct. 2008

The credit union raised $3,000 for American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. At our “Dunkin' for the Cause” fundraiser, staff were voted through raffle tickets to take a trip to the dunk tank. This year, new President/CEO Steven Stapp was the first to be voted into the dunk tank. In addition, the credit union established Pink Friday where credit union were donned in pink during this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Aids WalkAIDS Walk 2008 - July 2008

The AIDS Walk San Francisco was a great success with over 25,000 walkers raising a near-record total of $4,512,934 million!

San Francisco FCU staff participated in a walk around Golden Gate Park. In addition another $528 was raised from a raffle held at the Credit Union. The grand prize was a Disneyland vacation package. Thank you to everyone who participated and support this cause.
